Gill Bradbury

Gill is a Registered General Nurse (RGN), who has, since qualifying in 1991, specialised in the field of substance misuse – providing counselling support and clinical treatment services to people experiencing a drug and / or, alcohol dependency. Gill has a wealth of experience, having worked within all service sectors (i.e. statutory, voluntary / independent and private), including community, residential and prison settings, and to a model of Harm Reduction. She has been an effective, dynamic and pro-active Manager, instrumental in developing (new) services and has worked with some of the major providers: Addaction, Turning Point & Cranstoun. Until very recently, for a period of 3 - 4 years, Gill was a Director/Trustee of Transform (TDPF) – The Campaign for a Just and Effective Drug Policy and UKHRA – The UK Harm Reduction Alliance. She was also a member of Action on Hepatitis C (AHC) and the Nursing Council on Alcohol (NCA), as well as, sitting on other relevant committees over the years. Gill has provided freelance Training and Consultancy (since 1993) including some `expert witness’ work. She has co-written (national) Drug and HIV related literature since 1992 and has had other articles published in substance misuse journals, as well as, presenting at conferences in the UK and abroad. Gill is committed to progressive prescribing treatment, shared-care and quality assurance, as well as, having a specific interest in women's issues, child abuse, self-harming behaviours, holistic care, mental health, HIV and Hepatitis. As such, she has worked with many (vulnerable) people from diverse backgrounds, who present with complex problems and challenging issues.
